July 15th the Cuba Solidarity Fund crossed a landmark $200,000.00, with all expenses already paid from the several fundraising activities held throughout Grenada over the last 3 months.
Activities included a dinner, concert, breakfasts (3) - Town, Mt. Moritz & St. Paul’s - and a health fair (together with breakfast) in St. George; a raffle, barbeque and motorcade in St. Patrick; a Soiree for Cuba in St. Andrew; two back-to-back breakfasts and a raffle in St. David; and collections in churches throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Significant Contributions
The two single largest collections came from the Roman Catholic and Seventh Day Adventist churches, enabling deposits to the bank account this week in the amounts of $61,469.29 and $32,572.00 respectively. Contributions have also been received from the Methodist and Presbyterian churches. More monies are expected from the churches within the next 7 days as efforts now focus on getting humanitarian supplies to Cuba.
The Dinner for Cuba at the Grenada Trade Centre (May 6th) and the Soiree for Cuba at the Rainbow Inn in St. Andrew (May 15th) together raised net profits of just over $50,000.00.
The solidarity events kicked off with a media briefing in April, 2026 as Grenada and Cuba celebrated 47 years of diplomatic ties (April 14th).
The Humanitarian Crisis
Over the past few months Cuba has been facing a serious humanitarian crisis as a result of acute shortages of fuel, food and critical medical supplies due to increased US sanctions, on top of over six decades of an economic blockade. Blackouts have become the norm, while scores of critical medical operations have had to be cancelled, leading to scores of deaths.

Citizens for Cuba is a non-partisan-all-inclusive citizen-driven entity united by a common objective of assisting the people of Cuba in overcoming their current humanitarian crisis.
Over the years, Cuba has given significant and selfless assistance to Grenada, notably in the construction of its international airport, the provision of hundreds of university scholarships and the provision of Cuban medical specialists in various fields to lend critical support to Grenada’s health infrastructure.
A Genuine Peoples’ Effort
Under the theme, “Grateful Grenada Gives Back to Cuba,” people throughout the state have been making financial contributions through their community organisations, churches, trade unions and other entities to give their support. Direct donations are also being made through the Humanitarian Relief Inc. bank account (Grenada Co-operative Bank) bearing Account No. 11302334.
The Solidarity Drive continues, the latest two activities being a Breakfast and Lunch for Cuba organised by the St. Paul’s Sports and Culture Organisation (June 20th) and a Luncheon for Cuba organised by the Technical and Allied Workers Union (July 3rd). Within the next week contributions are expected to be received from the trade unions and other churches.
Deepest Gratitude Grenada
Citizens for Cuba wishes to express its deepest gratitude to all organisations and individuals throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique contributing to this worthy initiative from a truly diverse cross-section of the population.
By the time all monies are collected (within the next 2 weeks) from the various groupings the figures are expected to be raised to an even more impressive quarter-million dollars ($250,000.00), coming from the bowels of a grateful Grenadian people.
